Mission Statement –

Intuitive Wolf K9 Rescue

From Shelter to Service.

At Intuitive Wolf K9 Rescue, we believe that true rehabilitation—both for dogs and people—requires time, intention, and connection. Founded by Brittany Sweet, a trauma-informed trainer with a decade of experience in holistic wellness and canine behavior, our rescue is dedicated to the purposeful transformation of dogs before they are placed in new homes. We don't believe in rushing adoptions. We believe it is better to take the time to focus on rehabilitation.

Our dogs will go through individualized behavior modification and obedience training before going home with their adopters. All adopters will be required to work directly with one of our trainers before their dog comes home, ensuring a safe and stable transition and long-term success for both dog and human. Our rescue takes pride in our transparency and we will always give an honest evaluation of the dog to reduce the risk of dogs being returned.

For dogs who demonstrate potential to serve others, we offer an extensive training program in therapy and service dog work. These highly trained dogs will be donated to vetted individuals in the community living with PTSD, or other disabilities. Participation in the dog’s training is mandatory for all recipients—because structure, consistency, and relationship are the foundation of every successful working team.

Intuitive Wolf K9 Rescue is also deeply committed to community impact. We are developing a youth-focused program to offer students hands-on experience in dog care and training. This initiative not only benefits the animals—it provides young people with purpose, discipline, and emotional grounding.

Working with dogs has been shown to lower cortisol levels, reduce anxiety, improve emotional regulation, and build confidence. For trauma survivors, youth struggling with focus or behavioral challenges, and individuals in recovery, dogs can be powerful mirrors and motivators. They teach us structure, patience, and unconditional presence—and in turn, we teach them trust and stability.

This rescue is more than a shelter. It’s a healing place—for dogs, for people, and for the greater Vermont community.
